Alumna

Class of 2013

Ashland University provided me with opportunities to advance my career, and, really, my life in ways I’m not sure any other school could have. I met some of my lifelong best friends, had student worker positions that led me to my future career path, held leadership positions in organizations that I cared about, and received an excellent education overall. I came into Ashland with over a year of college credit completed during high school, and was able to graduate college in three years with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, with minors in communications and business management. I also participated in the honors program, and was able to complete an honors capstone project related to my future graduate studies. Even though I was only at Ashland for three years, I was very involved with Newman Catholic Ministry and Psychology Club, and had leadership positions with both during my third year. Newman helped me explore and grow in my Catholic faith. I worked in Admissions, Career Services, and Academic Advising, and those positions helped me discover my passion for working with college students. This led me to pursue a master’s degree and a career in higher education administration, which I still enjoy today. I served as a research assistant for a psychology professor, and in doing so was able to attend regional psychological association conferences in Philadelphia, Chicago, and New York where I presented results of the research I completed for both my professor and my honors capstone. Being at a smaller school for three years gave me opportunities that I don’t think I would have had in four years at a larger school. I also met some of my very best friends, with whom I am still close almost ten years later. I am so grateful for my experience at Ashland University, and all of the excellent faculty and staff who worked with me throughout my time there.
