I first visited the campus of Ashland University after my eighth-grade year for a Farm Bureau camp and fell in love with the campus. As my senior year approached, Ashland was my first choice and a visit to campus sealed the deal. I met the professor, Dr. Glen White, who would later be my mentor and advisor, and he, along with other science faculty members, shaped my career path. As a freshman, I thought anyone interested in science should pursue a medical degree, but interactions with the faculty changed my outlook. Instead, I decided to pursue a Ph.D. so that I could eventually teach at the college level at a university similar to Ashland. I started working at a small liberal arts university five years ago, and can honestly say I love going to work every day. This career path is thanks to the great professors I had while at Ashland. In addition to academics, Ashland also allowed me to grow in other ways. Freshman year, I joined a sorority, Alpha Phi, and met a group of wonderful women with whom I shared many experiences during my four years at AU. These women became my home away from home and my support network while I was away at school. I loved my Ashland experience, from the late nights in the science computer lab, to painting the rocks, to semi-formals, to standing up in friends’ weddings and having them in mine. I loved my four years at AU.
