Emma Eastwood

Student

I’m currently a co-captain of the flag line in the marching band, but it wasn’t something I had ever planned to do. When I got to AU as a freshman, I wasn’t plugged in at all. However, my high school band director had just taken the director job at the university. He called me out of the blue and said that he wanted me to join. The first time I was on the field in front of thousands of people, it was nerve-racking because I’d only been on the squad for four days! I was so afraid to make a mistake. But there comes this moment when you forget about the crowd, and there’s just the performance… it’s amazing. It’s so much fun, and I’ve made so many friends!
