My Ashland story was focused on education and swimming. I was a student-athlete and both of these things changed my life. If it were not for the academic classes, I wouldn’t be the teacher I am today for my ASD students. I also learned how to care and treat everyone as their own special person. Through swimming I learned the rigor, determination and motivation I need to be the adult I am today. From the morning practices, to managing my time between these things, to working ahead because of missing classes for the NCAA meets, I would not be the person, teacher or friend I am today without my experiences at Ashland University. I also made lifetime friendships at Ashland.
