Benjamin and I met through mutual friends during my junior year at AU. I did not know it when we first met, but his mother, Dr. Maria Sargent, was actually my professor during the semester we first started dating! We’ve been together 11-plus years now and have navigated through his deployment to Afghanistan and are currently juggling his crazy police schedule with two beautiful boys, Kevin and Christopher. We are so blessed! Benjamin and I are both Ashland University alumni and Dr. Maria Sargent still teaches at Ashland University. I am currently working as an Intervention Specialist at Vermilion High School and Benjamin is working for the Erie County Sheriff’s Office as a deputy for their police department.
