The moment my parents and I arrived at Ashland, all three of us knew it was the school for me! I grew up in Stratford, CT, and, like many others, graduated from high school with a group of kids I had been with my whole life. I was ready to see another part of the country and meet new people. My dad had attended Ashland before going into the military. His dad had managed The Home Company in town. My dad was willing to let me go 600 hundred miles away because he knew this place well and had many fond memories. Obviously, when I began Ashland College (fall of 1988), I didn’t know anyone, but quickly became friends with other girls on the fourth floor of Kem Hall. This group of girls encouraged me to go through Rush and I felt even more at home when I met the girls of Delta Zeta. Those girls were the beginning of me becoming more of the person I wanted to be. They helped me to find my true self. The education program at Ashland was a perfect match for the way I learn. With both small classes and approachable professors, I received an unparalleled education. After graduating from Ashland in 1992, I married my husband and settled in Columbus. I have taught preschool, visual arts (K-8), and, currently, third grade. The memories and experiences that Ashland University gave me in four years have served me well the last (almost) 30 years and given me a lifetime of knowledge.
