It was my senior year of high school and I had no interest from colleges and universities. I played in a football all-star game for seniors who had big-time scholarships to play football at the next level. I played against those guys with a chip on my shoulder, hoping to get an offer from a big-time school. The only school that expressed interest was Ashland University. Who would have thought that a kid whose mother and father were involved with drugs and who grew up in an extremely challenging neighborhood would attend Ashland University? Coach Gary Keller told me that he thought I could play for this amazing school and be something special. As an Eagle, he saw something in me that I did not see in myself. Through all the staff, faculty and more who helped me grow and achieve success, my experience has been phenomenal. And that’s truly just the beginning of my story…
