I came to Ashland College as a freshman from Indiana in 1964. This was my first experience away from home, and I moved into the brand new Clayton Hall. My parents told me I had to attend college for at least one semester, but because I made so many new friends and had such a great experience at Ashland, that one year turned into four. In 1968 I graduated from Ashland with a degree to teach. Jobs were very plentiful in those days and I spent the next 34 years as a teacher and principal in Ohio. Along the way, I earned a PhD in Educational Administration. The highlight of my career came in 2000 when I became an assistant professor in educational administration. I taught superintendent candidates for ten years. Many of my students became superintendents in the area, and my most rewarding experiences were seeing my former students use the knowledge they gained from me in their superintendency. What a thrill. I live in Florida now, but my heart and soul remain in Ohio and Ashland. I cherish the memories.
