We had a small geology department with two professors and about eight to ten students. Several of us became known as the “G Team,” as we were seen continuously together in Jacobs Hall or Kettering Science Center. The result was lifelong friendships.
A huge factor in all of our lives was a single professor, Dr. Jim Noel. We were a little unclear which career paths were available, but through his mentoring, guidance and friendship, he steered us, first, toward graduate school, and, then, toward fulfilling and successful careers in the oil and gas industry. Recently, we were together pondering (with great appreciation) how one man had such an enduring and positive influence on all of us.
