I started my college career at Miami University. After a year I decided the classes were too large, the campus too big and there was no individual attention from professors, so I decided to transfer to Ashland College. Tom started college life at The Ohio State University. After two years, he decided—for the same reasons as me—to transfer to Ashland College. In the years to come we decided we had definitely made the right decision. Tom graduated in 1968 with a B.S. degree in mathematics and I graduated a year later with a B.S. degree in education.
After the first football game of the year in September 1966, there was a dance held at Redwood Dining Hall. It was there that I met Tom Riley and, as they say, “the rest is history.” That was a wonderful year getting to know each other and falling in love! On the last weekend of May 1967, we got engaged. The following January, we were married during semester break.
Ashland University has been a wonderful part of our lives. After almost 52 years of marriage we are still proud to say we are Ashland University Eagles!
