Since I grew up in Ashland, it was always my dream to go to college at Ashland University. I remember riding my skateboard around the campus as a teenager, thinking that someday I would come back to AU in some way. I received an associate degree at a technical college and came back to AU as a secretary to the Registrar. He encouraged me to go on for my bachelor’s degree at AU while working in the office. I received my bachelor’s degree in Business Education. And although I went on to teach at various colleges and universities over the next years, my heart was always with AU. I started teaching on an adjunct basis at AU in the MBA program while teaching full time at other colleges and attaining graduate degrees at Ohio State University. I hoped a full-time opening might bring me to AU one day. I’m happy to say it did! I have been an associate professor of Business Management for 11 years, teaching in the BSBA and MBA Programs. I sometimes look out my office window in the Dauch College of Business and Economics and think of that young girl who used to ride her skateboard around Founders Hall with so many dreams in her head. I try to remember what that felt like when I help my students who are hoping to fulfill their life’s dreams. I try to encourage them the way that the AU faculty and staff encouraged me.
