Leaving home is hard. Leaving home to go live in a place where you don’t know anyone is even harder. Coming to AU, I didn’t know anyone, and I didn’t know what to do.
The only thing I did know was that I wanted to be involved and make the most of my time. In October of my freshman year, I began seeing flyers all over campus for the Orientation Team and decided, “Why not?”
Helping future eagles gain their wings was one of the most rewarding parts of O-Team. I have also made friendships that will last a lifetime! Friends who were there for me like no one else. Helping people find their place and furthering their education at the same time? What’s better than that?
The skills I learned at AU will enable me to be a better nurse and communicate with my patients, skills I only could have gained through the opportunities provided by my time on the Orientation Team.
