I attended Ashland University with the goal of getting an education that would help me be successful in the real world. I hoped to build friendships along the way but never expected to meet people who are still some of my best friends, and one in particular who is now my husband. Being from Arizona, I was often asked why I went to Ashland. Sure, athletics brought me to Ashland, and an incredible finance program is what sold me on attending, but it was the community of students and faculty I met along the way that kept me there. There were plenty of morning walks to class in the snow my freshman year that made me question why I left the sunshine, but I also felt like Ashland was the right place for me. In the fall of my sophomore year, I met my husband while sitting on a couch in the business building with mutual friends waiting for our next class. A year later, that friendship turned into a relationship, and two years later, we graduated, and he moved to Arizona. Five years after we first met at Ashland University, he took me back to Ashland where it all began and got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. Ashland has been more than just a place where I went to college. It is the place I met my husband and two of my best friends, who were also in our wedding. The memories and connections I made at Ashland University will certainly last a lifetime.
