During my first year, Ashland women’s basketball kicked off the season by holding the opening practice at midnight. We wore robes over our practice gear and quietly snuck into the dark gym with blankets and pillows, acting like we were sleeping. Our assistant coach, “Hawk,” entered the gym to switch the lights—only to discover a great surprise. US! Afterwards, we went to the truck stop for breakfast.
