I currently live in Boerne, Texas and am pursuing my Masters in American History and Government (MAHG) at Ashland University. I’m an AP U.S. History teacher at Champion High School. I’ve been a teacher and coach for 24 years.
Last year, my twins entered college leaving my wife and me as “empty-nesters.” It was at this time that I committed myself to earn an advanced degree. A colleague of mine, Kim Grosenbacher, an Ashland graduate, suggested I consider Ashland’s MAHG program.
I visited the university’s website and reached out to faculty members about what Ashland had to offer. The university’s “Accent on the Individual” slogan had a significant impact on my decision to enroll.
Last summer, I spent two weeks taking classes on campus. I realized how much fun it was being a student again, living on campus, eating cafeteria food and meeting what I hope to be lifelong friends. There isn’t a graduate program I’ve found that offers this experience. I love the campus and the community of Ashland. I’m looking forward to next summer.
