I am currently the Vice-President of Club Basketball here on campus, and I never thought in my lifetime I would ever play basketball. After only playing football in high school, I came to Ashland looking for a way to stay fit. I was in the Rec Center one day during my freshman year and got into a conversation with a group of other students. They were very friendly and asked me to join them in a game of pick up basketball. I was really nervous and almost declined their offer, but once I was playing, it was a lot of fun. Being socially inclined, I met lots of new people at the rec center and started playing more pick-up games with these new friends. I even joined the club basketball team during my freshman year. By my sophomore year, I was asked to become the President of Club Basketball, and I was excited about the opportunity. It was a great leadership experience, and I enjoyed playing games with my friends and club teammates. While I never expected basketball to be a part of my life, it has been a very positive piece of my AU experience. I have really enjoyed my time at AU, making friends and developing many skills for life after college.
