I think one of the most impactful experiences I’ve had here at Ashland happened last year, as a sophomore. I was really struggling mentally and emotionally, and I just couldn’t get out of it. But I had one professor for a gen ed class who showed a lot of interest in and kindness towards the whole class. He would check in on me regularly, and just having him there as a source of support, understanding and encouragement made a huge difference. He didn’t have to care at all. It was gen ed. But he did, and that really helped me through that time. We still check in with each other through email from time to time. It’s just one more thing that sets Ashland University apart.
