My most incredible moment at AU happened just seconds after we completed the 4×400 at the outdoor track and field national championships last spring. We came into that last day down 41 points but had chipped away to where, heading into the final event, we were only six points off the lead. I helped by winning the 400 hurdles national title and placing second in the 110. I remember coaches Logan and Clark preaching all season long that the 4×400 was the “fourth quarter.” Everyone on the team had come together and gotten us to this point. And now it was our job to finish it off. I ran the second leg and managed to run the best split time of my life. And when we finally came in second, I remember looking up at the scoreboard, doing a little mental math, and then throwing up my hands knowing we’d done it. We had won the national championship again! It was an incredible feeling and I’m so proud to be part of this AU team.
